The Unmaking and Re-Making of a 1960s English Council Estate

I'm looking forward to Wednesday afternoon (20 March), when I shall be speaking about the making, unmaking and - in my imagination at least - the remaking of the 1960s English Council Estate at a half-day symposium entitled 'Shifting Locations' at the University of Derby's Identity, Conflict and Representation Research Centre.

  1. Dear Ian,

You may be interested to know that Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the 'Distinctly Black Country' network are currently applying for HLF money to develop their studies of local council housing - initial work seen here: http://distinctlyblackcountry.org.uk/blockcapital/. My institution (Newman University) is supporting this project and we would welcome your insights

PS If you wrote the letter in today's Guardian, I have to say, I entirely agree.
